Thanks for all your lovely comments and your patience, too! I love to welcome a number of new followers, glad to have you here!
As always, I hope you will find some inspirations here!
Since my last blog post quite a few things have happened, and I feel like I should apologize that it has taken me this long for an update. Sorry folks!!!
But you know how it is:
Not all that wander are lost! |
One thing was that I went through various tests and the end exams for my Dutch classes....
Another that I had a dental operation on my jaw a week ago and have been slowly recovering from it, it still hurts a lot, though the swelling has gone down a lot.
And last, but also with a lot of impact, our cat Twinkle has gone missing recently which was very much out of character for him since he never ventured outside the house (and he didn't know his surroundings here in Belgium). We have tried everything we could to find him so far, but without success. Twinkle is the brother of Jasper and we had both of them since birth. We are very upset and miss him.

Well, to show you what I have been up to, I decided to break it down a bit. I'm still having computer problems and this makes blogging more difficult. So instead one long catch up post, I will try to do a few more following this one. Promise!!!
Making a baby blanket
This is what I am currently working on, much to my own surprise. A girl in my Dutch class is expecting her first child, she knows it will be a girl. So I spontaneously offered to crochet her a blanket, I hadn't previously thought about it. So I started on Tuesday, 12th May. Initially I said I would do it over the summer, but as I got started, I thought maybe I can do it quicker?
So I started making crochet squares, pink and white ones from Veritas Apilou acrylic yarn.
First I was aiming to make 2 every day, meanwhile I have stepped up to making 5 a day!!!
My initial idea: 5 x 9 squares (a rectangle) - 45 |
Then I saw that a square blanket might look better |
So I adapted my idea to make it 7 x 7 squares (49) |
I hope you enjoyed this (long overdue) post. Let me know what you have been working on, I must admit that I seem to have a backlog when it comes to reading blog posts and leaving comments... hopefully things will get better soon!
Please leave me some comments, I love hearing from you all! And to the new followers: How did you find my blog (just curious!!!)
Meanwhile... Happy crocheting and knitting!!!
Hoi!
;) xx
DeleteHope you are feeling better soon. The blanket is beautiful, a stunning gift for a new baby.

Hello Alison! Thanks for your kind wishes. Looking forward to find out about your baby blankets! :) xx
DeleteGood to hear that your jaw is recovering. I am so sorry about Twinkle, hope he is safe and will be found soon. It is so nice and kind of you to volunteer to crochet a baby blanket for your friend. The colour is so sweet and lovely.
ReplyDeleteHi there, Nancy! Thank you!! My friend asked for a real baby pink blanket, so this is what I am making! I think I would have picked more vibrant colours myself, but there you go! I hope she will like it... :) xx
DeleteThe baby blanket is going to be gorgeous. I love the shade of pink you're using. I agree with you that making a square is better than the rectangle. Sorry about Twinkle - hope you find him soon. And sorry to hear about your jaw but glad it's improving. I'm finding it hard to keep up with blogging too!
ReplyDeleteHi Gillian! Thanks for the heads up about the shape! ;) Good to know that I'm not the only one... Hugs! xx
DeleteHi Ingrid, don't worry about not blogging for so long. We all know that life sometimes overwhelmes you. I'm so sorry about your cat, it is the worst not knowing what happened. But hopefully he will return soon. Your baby blanket will look gorgeous, I like the soft colours. And I hope that you will soon feel okay again, take care of yourself! I just finished a shawl, but I have to block it before I can take some pictures. And I decided to start with a second blanket, I will write soon about it. Best wishes, Viola
ReplyDeleteHello Viola! Thanks for your kind words. I loved seeing your latest creations and here you are, with more in the pipeline... ;)

Good to hear from you Ingrid, I was worried!
ReplyDeleteHopefully your cat will turn up again! Our cat got lost several years ago and all of a sudden (when we had given up hope), he showed up again after 3 weeks!
The babyblanket looks very pretty! The mum will surely love it!
Take care

DeleteIt is lovely to hear from you Ingrid, I was wondering how you were. Glad to know that you are alright, although sorry about your dental op and Twinkle going missing. I hope that all will be alright in both cases. Take care of yourself. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Amy! Thanks for your kind words! xx
DeleteBaby blankets are my preferred crochet item. Something about how nice and comfy they are mixed with the soft yarn and beautiful colors and textures.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your cat! I will keep my fingers crossed.
I would love if you shared your baby blanket at our Yarn Fanatic Party - http://eyeloveknots.blogspot.com/2015/05/yarn-fanatic-party-37-string-theory.html.

Hi Alexandra! Thanks for your kind invite, I just added my link! :)
DeleteBelieve it or not, this is only my second baby blanket! ;) xx
Hi Ingrid,
ReplyDeleteI was wondering where you had got to! I am sorry that you are suffering with a sore jaw etc. Dental operations can make one feel very miserable. Nothing like the excitement of a new baby to dispel some of the pain - wow! you are making huge progress. What a delightful choice you have made.
I do hope your Twinkle will find his way home. It is encouraging to hear stories of cats that go missing and have amazing travels and somehow find their way home weeks and months later. There was one cat that went around the world! I do hope Twinkle is alive and well and perhaps on a vacation and that he will return home very soon. Were you in hospital long? Perhaps he missed you and went looking for you? I like to think and hope for positive outcomes.
Wishing you best of luck in finding him and for a speedy recovery.
Many hugs, xxx
Dear Jodie! Thanks for finding such comforting words, you are a great support! Have a nice weekend! xx
