Today I want to show you what happens when you find an intriguing crochet chart on pinterest and then start trying it out and liking it. I didn't even peek at the original website, but I got excited simply working it out!



PS ; This was photographed upside down!

One row soon leads to another and it makes you think: wow, it is growing so fast!

ABC knitting patterns call this pattern : Prayer shawl.

You can easily work out your own pattern, you need a multiple of 6 chain stitches + 3 extra stitches (which are the first stitch and the first 2 chains of the second row)


I'm using Pingouin crochet cotton again in a lovely leaf green (or a pale olive green), it is actually called Papyrus.

Maybe you like to give this pattern a try yourself? Of course you could easily make a scarf from it if you want to.

Knitting post - the Barcelona Alpaca Jumper is finished!

Today another catch up post about something that I recently finished.


The Barcelona Jumper by Julie Jaeken

I started this jumper last year and worked on it on and off. The pattern came from Julie, the owner of the wonderful Julija's Woolshop here in Antwerp.

I previously blogged about this jumper in a post here.

Since we were planning on visiting England in early March, I realised that it would be great if I managed to finish off this jumper in time so I could take it along and finally hand it over to my daughter there!

My daughter loves her new jumper!

I made the sleeves a bit longer so the could be worn up or down to keep extra warm!

This is a great pattern and lovely in the soft and cosy Drops Alpaca Boucle yarn.

I did start a second jumper (for myself) which will have to wait.... Right now I want to work on more things for the coming warmer season.

Crochet Updates: A Cobalt Blue Crochet Windowpane Cowl

A Cobalt Blue Windowpane Crochet Cowl


This is my last finished project. I really enjoyed making it! The pattern is the windowpane scarf, you can find it here on ravelry: Windowpane scarf. It is a free pattern.

I first found this on the lovely Dutch blog: http://blij-dat-ik-brei.blogspot.be/2014/05/venster-ruitjes.html and I had saved this to my favourites ever since (which is almost 2 years ago). I knew I just had to make this one day!

I decided to turn it into a cowl and make it for a friend in my class. The pattern is really quite easy and can be adapted to make something in the size you want.

This time I actually made a proof square to see how many stitches there were to 10cm. In my case this was 24 stitches which worked out well for a pattern of multiples of 6 stitches.

I just love this pattern! It looks great in this pure cotton yarn, but it would look equally good in wool! The electric blue looks stunning! The stitches show up clearly.

 And here is my friend modelling her new cowl. She is very pleased with it!

 

The finished cowl measures 140 cm round x 30 cm deep. It weighs around 400g.

Easter Greetings!

Hello my dear Blog Friends,


I know it has been quite a while since I last posted. Time to do something about it and get back into the swing of regular blogging!

First of all, let me wish you all a very Happy Easter, hope you get the chance to relax together with your loved ones!

Here are some festive makes just right for Easter. They were made by some lovely ladies in the Femma craft group in Aartselaar.

The bunnies were made from a knitted square each. Of course you could just crochet a square as well!

The amazing chickens were made from a light bulb that was painted white, decorated with a pattern and glued on feathers. Their combs, mouths and legs are made from felt and they are seated in a cut of tube of a toilet roll. Ingenious, isn't it?


A walk in the Leisure Domain Hofstade near Mechelen

Yesterday afternoon we went for a relaxing walk around the Lakes at Hofstade. We have been there before. I always love being near water. The weather was mild and sunny, though a bit windy.

Last, not least, have a slice of our Easter cake.....
