An airy Cotton Top
Today I want to show you what happens when you find an intriguing crochet chart on pinterest and then start trying it out and liking it. I didn't even peek at the original website, but I got excited simply working it out!
PS ; This was photographed upside down! |
One row soon leads to another and it makes you think: wow, it is growing so fast!
Link to the pin which originates here.
ABC knitting patterns call this pattern : Prayer shawl.
Here is a copy of the stitch pattern which is found via the same link: (copyright ABC-knitting-patterns.com)
You can easily work out your own pattern, you need a multiple of 6 chain stitches + 3 extra stitches (which are the first stitch and the first 2 chains of the second row)
I'm using Pingouin crochet cotton again in a lovely leaf green (or a pale olive green), it is actually called Papyrus.
Laid double - I love how the holes line up exactly |
Maybe you like to give this pattern a try yourself? Of course you could easily make a scarf from it if you want to.
I look forward to your comments!
Thank's Ingrid, I was just looking for such a pattern! I'm going to try this out soon!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day,
Sigrid
Yes, it will be interesting to see what you think of it when you try it. I think using pure cotton results in a pretty sturdy 'fabric'. xx
DeleteI love the color of that pretty cotton crochet.

Thank you, Amalia! xx
DeleteHi Ingrid,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this beautiful pattern. You picked a nice colour for your Top. Really pretty. Have a nice Friday.
Sweet greetings,

Thanks, Emily! It was a brand new colour which was new in the shop. I noticed it straight away and had to get it! xx
DeleteHi there. Allways exhiting With a New crochet chart.
ReplyDeleteFor summer this will be a Perfect top With a singlet under. Love the color. Have a Perfect week end.
And you, Monica! I thought the same thing! xx
DeleteBeautiful colour of the cotton. Looks like the perfect top for the warmer weather.
ReplyDeleteAt first it seemed a bit crazy working on such a 'holey' pattern whilst the storm winds were practically howling outside a few days ago when I began. Yesterday we were driving through east Germany and I never seen so much snow all around in some places. Today it looks like a beautiful spring day outside. (no snow where we are staying). So hopefully it will be ready for the warmer weather. xx
DeleteLovely pattern, dear. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Nina
Thank you very much, Nina! xx
DeleteVery nice! And you are going so fast... is it going to be a scarf too?
ReplyDeleteNo, it will be a summer top! But it's a versatile pattern. You could easily make a scarf or shawl from it. xx
DeleteYour tension is so even - look at the holes line up! I noticed the same as you straight away. Very pretty pattern stitch. How fine is that cotton and what size hook are you using? Are you having fun working out how to increase/decrease in that pattern for the armholes and neckline etc.? Working it out for yourself gives you an intimate knowledge of the stitch pattern. I will be watching to see how your top looks when done. Always impressed with your productivity. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments, Jodie! I am using a 3.5 mm hook. I haven't got the label with me right now but it's normal cotton comparable to Catania by Schachenmayer (we are staying in Germany for a few days). I will tackle the arm holes when I get there... ;) Have a nice weekend!
DeleteThat is a really great stitch pattern Ingrid, it would be perfect for so many things.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
Glad you like it, Meredith! xx
ReplyDeleteIm not crocheting just now, but I LOVE seeing yours. Cotton and hooks always agree with me for short bursts!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathy! Well, I'm also doing some knitting as well, I like the variety! ;) xx
