Since you have been curious about my blanket that I started yesterday, I will do a quick post with some photos to show it here.
But first I want to show off a lucky find today!
Colourful Fenna yarn |
Another new WIP: The South Bay Shawlette!
Today I managed to find some gorgeous new Fenna yarn - but there were only 2 balls in the shop!
I just couldn't resist to start with my old favourite - The South Bay Shawlette. The first stitches were just flying off my needles! I just wanted to show you the lovely colours in the yarn. This is what I made this early evening.
Another South Bay Shawlette in the making! |
New WIP: Harlequin Blanket
First I practised my stitches. The stitch is also known as Large Catherine Wheel Stitch (using UK treble stitches). Each pattern repeat goes over 12 stitches!
Initially I worked out from my sample that I wanted to do 50 x pattern repeats (12 stitches) = 600 stitches + 2 extra for edges!
So I started chaining and counting!!!!
However, in the end I only needed 480+2 (40 repeats will be more than 2m large!)
The (printable) pattern is here: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_yC9ySJTXW3I/SeYIaN9h2FI/AAAAAAAACJ4/b-pXJvzrqPM/s1600-h/Wheel+Shell+Stitch+-+Triple.jpg

Sorry to be so short this time, I must get ready and pack a few bits, we are leaving in the middle of the night. By breakfast time, when you might be reading this, I will be in England already!!! (Needless to say, the above projects are coming with me!)
Have a lovely weekend and please leave me some comments, I look forward to reading them when I return!
Those Catherine's Wheel blankets are so pretty. Looks like you've got a good start on yours and it's going to be gorgeous! Love that Southbay Shawl, and that yarn you are using is perfect for it! Can't wait to see it grow. Have a good weekend. I'll be working on my Granny still.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pammy Sue! Hope you had a good weekend? xx
DeleteBeautiful blanket, have a great trip.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm back again, the lovely weekend was much too short! xx
DeleteSo nice..it is a long job to do a blanket but a great result.

Hi! Yes, it is a big project to start! However, I noticed that the pattern is growing rather fast with those big 'wheels'! I'm trying to be good and sew in the ends as I go along, so hopefully there won't be masses at the very end! xx
DeleteThe shawl and the balnket are going to be so beautiful, I love the colors you are using for both projects. Have a safe and wonderful trip.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you and enjoy England.
Meredith
Thanks, Meredith! :) I had a lovely time in England and enjoyed our trip. I finished the shawl this morning and the blanket is coming along nicely! xx
DeleteThe colours in your new shawl are stunning. I can see your blanket is going to be very special.
ReplyDeleteHi Gillian! Yes, they are quite a mix of very bright and some 'sludgier' tones. I will do a post about it when I have caught up with things here. The blanket will be a riot of colours! :)
DeleteHave a nice week! xx
Owww, how sad there were only 2 skiens of fenna left... But it will be a gorgeous shawlette. I hope it will not become too small. Nice blanket are you making too!
ReplyDeleteHi Lizette! Well, I'm going to continue visiting any Wibra branch I come across, maybe, just maybe, I will find some more Fenna yarn! Actually I made a short version with just one skein and finished it today! (This means I still got one more left, yay!) It is more like a neckwarmer, but all the nice colours will be visible when worn at the front! (Photos coming soon!)
DeleteDo you ever get a problem with finding more of the Wibra yarns where you live? xx
Wonderful projects!!
ReplyDeleteHappy week,greetings.
Hello, enjoy your week!! :) xx
DeleteWishing you tea and crumpets!
